Start Improving Your Pool Game |
|
Where do I start on improving my pool game?
The first thing we recommend is joining a pool league there are a couple leagues out there but a good one to get started in is apa this is a bar league but you should be able to find a team by going on line at www.poolplayers.com and finding a team in your area. Once you join a team look for the best player on the team they are always willing to help you and get you started with some of the basic rules, also the great thing about this league is it is based on a handicapped scoring system so it levels the playing field & gives you the chance to play good players.
Once you’ve gotten started on a team for about a season and you have gotten a feel for the game start to look for someone in the league that will help you on a consistent basis which should be pretty easy everyone is generally going to help you plus its free.
Now its time to get a cue, because you still are fairly new you don’t need something expensive just a cue that you like the way it looks , and you are comfortable on how it plays you can ask around and see what cue other people are playing with & ask them how they like there cue.
Now that you have a cue, play with it for awhile and now look for a consistent coach or get lessons & you will be set to start playing pool and hone your game.
A couple hints & recommendations on playing pool with your new pool cue.
Get a tip tool- this will insure that your new cue tip is able to hold chalk and maintain its shape.
Chalk- we recommend masters chalk, always keep the tip of your cue chalked chalk up after every shot.
What’s position play? Position play is after you make your ball you can control the cue ball position to set up for you next shot this is very important.
How do I control the cue ball? The first thing to practice is natural position , that’s where the cue ball goes after you hit & or pocket you object ball. Remember that using a rail after you hit a object ball is one of the best ways to have the cue ball move around the table.
Controlling the cue ball with English. What is English ? English is when you hit the ball with spin, whether you hit the ball with bottom spin top spin or side spin. But be careful when using English it will throw the object ball in different direction that may cause you to miss the pocket. Practice practice!
Also go online and look up you tube you should be able to watch some videos of efren reyes, johny archer, earl strickland and janette lee, watch there form you will learn alot!
Good luck on you new hobby & hopefully you will be able to improve your game!
